Default 2006 x2 500 polaris

I have read so much about sensors ,harnesses broken wires ,bad connectors, you name it ,I'm going crazy.l have had this won't idle problem for months and been to 3 different mechanics .The first problem arose when over one tank of fuel the bike started to idle rough run as rich as buggery and then stop.Had the injector cleaned throttle body and sensors cleaned and checked and took the bike back home ,rode it for 1 hr same problem.2 more attempts at mechanics ,seemed to run fine at the different shops but took it home and l have an idea that the altitude change is the problem. Does anyone know ifwhat would the problem be if it is the altitude from 200 ft above sea level to 1500 ft above. Dont realy know which way to turn. Only plays up when hot and l can hear a change in air intake ,sort of a whiring noise , starts to run like crap sometimes back fires then stops .mind bender ay ??😲Thanks guys .Wayne

Welcome to the forums.

With it being fuel injected, that little (in relative terms) altitude change wouldn't affect it. Have they checked the boots, air filter and air box? Only other thing I can think of, pre coffee, is the cdi.

OPT will probably see this later, and you'll get the expert advice then.

Codes may or may not be thrown, but usually back firing ,erratic idle is cause by either the tps or tbab connector or wiring, not the sensors themselves. Even the service manuals say 85% of efi problems are wiring or connector related. Polaris makes crappy harness repair kits.. I replaced enough to know that they wouldn't last and I had to repair some machines more than once. Look at the sticky post above this section on 700/800 efi problems.Includes all efi models. This led to a member making better repair kits. You can sometimes find the faulty one(usually the the tbap) by wiggling the harness or inspection the harness for chaffed or soft feeling wires that have melted internally. Connector pins can pull out also. The one pictured is probably the one causing all the problems. Here's the site. https://otbpowersports.com/products/
