Default 2005 Polaris Sportsman 700 EFI rough idle

Hello all, new to the forum. I just bought this 2005 Sportsman EFI and it's having idling issues. It will backfire from the air filter when idling and eventually die. It seems like it's running rich. I've checked the common problems (throttle cable gap on the handle bars, tbap sensor, etc.) I have ran a can of seafoam through it and changed both spark plugs. When I run the code diagnostic it does not throw any codes. Only thing I can think of is i know there is an exaust leak between the Y of the header to the axaust pipe. Here's a video of what it's doing...any help from the experts on here would be greatly appreciated.

First off put the filter back in and the air box lid. If it still back fires, has an erratic idle, dies, etc, the most common problem was the wiring or the connector from the t-bap sensor, not the sensor itself. Wires may look ok,some may feel soft from internal melting plus pins can pull back a little from the connector and cause erratic contact and idle. Usually they'll run ok off an idle. If you have time you can read this sticky post on efi problems to give you an idea what the problem may be. https://atvconnection.com/forums/pol...ap-wiring.html Most of the time replacing this harness and connector will solve it. As the manual states 85% of the problems on efi machine are wiring related not the sensors. Plus you may or may not have codes thrown which can be frustrating.Polaris had cheap ones that I replaced over and over. The sticky post refers to better repair kits that are available at this place.https://otbpowersports.com/products/ Hopefully the t-bap repair harness will solve yours.

Thank you for the response. It does still do it when the airbox and filter are completely put back together. After reading a lot of info and hearing your response I guess I'll have to get the wiring harness and see what happens. I'll respond back with results. Thank you Old Polaris Tech.

Agree 100% with Old P Tech. Had same issues many years ago (2008). I even think it was Old Polaris Tech's advice I followed way back. Don't get the cheap OEM stuff pretty much for ANY replacement part. Most aftermarket is always better. Hindsite experience. Have 15000 very rough miles on the old girl and still running well after Tbap replacement 13 yrs ago. Same goes with axle grease boots, axle's, headlights, starter solenoid, etc. In fact, a lot of my electrical replacement parts are automobile parts from O"Reilly's. Auto's are required by law to meet much higher standards than "TOYS".
