Hey all, I the two wires ( red white and red) from the key switch touched and then i lost spark. i smelled a little plastic burn but i cant trace it back to anything. I have replaced the CDI, Spark plug, stator and rewired the whole board. still no luck! bunch of crap. Looking for some help please!!!

Have you checked all your fuses? Next, try a new ignition. BTW, I had a 96, it was a hoot once I fixed everything wrong. Also, if your exhaust runs hot, gut out the muffler. Mine was plugged with 5 pounds of soot.

 

I have tested the ignition system all and no luck still!

thanks for the tip bout the mufler. ill have a look at it once i get er running again.

 

Check the little circuit breaker in the little black pouch back by the battery. You may have fried the ignition switch also.

what am i looking for on that circuit breaker? the thing is that i . get a tiny little light when i put a spark tester on and crank with elec and it doesnt do squat. itll fire up with pull though.
