2001 Polaris Magnum 325 Overcharging
#1
Hello Everyone!
I am a new member to the forum and am looking for some guidance. I have a 2001 Polaris Magnum 325. When I test the voltage at the battery while running, its reading between 18 and 19 volts. I just replaced the battery because the old battery died within a few months. I'm thinking the battery is being cooked since so many volts are going to it. I'm thinking maybe it is a bad rectifier but I'm having trouble locating the it. Under the front plastic compartment are two black boxes. Is it one of those boxes? I have also read that it could be a bad chassis ground. Any information would be extremely helpful. When it comes to electrical issues, my knowledge is very limited.
Thanks,
Zac

Hey Zac
Welcome! Not an expert but try to help you out if I can, seems part # 4060191[Looked up on partzilla says not available but on ebay new and used] is the rectifier you might need battery voltage while charging should be somewhere between 12.8-14.8 volts sounds like your might be too high. Bad rectifier /regulator would most likely be the issue Not familiar with your model/location but THINK most have yellow, red ,yellow with red stripe, and brown wires perhaps someone else might chime in to help also hope some of this helps And keep us posted Good luck
