Default 1996 polaris Xplorer overcharging

Looking for HELP, I have a 1996 Xplorer that is over charging. I have replaced the voltage regulator. It will charger at 14.1vlt at idle went rpms are raised it will charger 18-19 vlts. I feel ike it may need a stator but would like to see if anyone else has had this problem.

Check that you have the regulator hooked up correctly, but does sound like what a stator can do also. Do a general resistance check first. Yellow to yellow/red wires from the stator should show around .3 ohms resistance, yellow to yellow/brown .17 ohms. If readings exceed 20% of resistance values then yes it could be a stator problem.Stator Polaris Xplorer 400 1995 1996 1997 1998 1999 2000 2001 2002 | eBay
