03 predator 50 power loss
#1
Got an 03 predator 50 with rebuilt top end (sorry can’t say compression yet because my tester is from harbor freight and it’s junk I’ve discovered). Quad didn’t start before rebuild, starts immediately now so compression is at least enough to start without effort. Here’s the issue though. It has no power. Compared to my 04 predator 50, it’s like a power wheel. It actually starts off decent, but quickly slows down and won’t climb hills. Throttle adjuster screw removed, jumper removed from the limiter (not sure what that’s called).
Could exhaust cause loss of power? This thing sounds signify different from the other 50. The exhaust actually looks like the tip is missing, broken or rusted off. not sure what the inside of that exhaust could hold.
As far as i can tell there are no belts that could be slipping on these earlier predators?
It fires up quickly and idles well so I believe the new carb is adjusted correctly, but there is a new carb so I wanted to mention that. I suppose I could adjust the throttle cable a bit, but it doesn’t feel like a fuel issue to me as it idles and revs well.
please help! Having 2 of these was supposed to save so many arguments but now all I get is “why is her quad faster than mine!?”
