Default To Drain a Radiator.....

Howdy all......I've had my X2 500 since Oct of 2007 and I don't have any overheating issues.... (great ATV) but in the owners manual it recommends to change the coolant after two years. Doesn't look like that much fun to change. Do I really need to change it?......annnnnd if I need to replace with new coolant, should it be flushed first, etc., what's the best way to drain and replace on the X2? I haven't seen a drain valve or anything of the like.....Thanx....NoJoke

I'd just pull the bottom radiator hose, what little you would have would be in the head OR if you really just want to flush and waste some coolant, run until fan cycles on,open the radiator cap(CAREFULLY), remove the return hose coming from the engine place hose in a 5 gallon bucket, cap off the radiator return inlet, pour coolant (about about 3 quarts to make sure) in radiator slowly as you let it idle.It WON'T take very long! Then just replace hose, leave cap open, add coolant as it goes down until fan cycles on again, top off and replace cap. If it was mine,I would just drain the radiator, lot less trouble. OPT

OPT.......Thanx for the info. Still doesn't sound fun. Is it necessary to change the coolant after two years or as in my case almost four years? (2597 miles)......Does the coolant degrade or lose value with use?......if no issues just top off if needed?.....Have a Happy 4th......NoJoke

Coolant does degrade over the years, but as I said,I would just drain the radiator, then install the hose back, fill the radiator, leave the cap off until the fan cycles on and top off coolant OR you can just top off the existing coolant if you don't want to change it right now! OPT
