new RZR
#11
I posted this over in the Polaris forum;
I hear rumors from a reliable source that the 50" RZR might come to an end.
The CSPC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) thinks that the 50” width is too narrow and therefore too dangerous for a side by side machine.
So tell me after watching the videos, who's most likely to get hurt?? Someone doing 73 mph across the desert or someone in a RZR going 20 mph riding a 50" wide ATV trail.

Ok, maybe I shouldn't drive the way I do, but I really didn't see it go over any terrain my old 2wd Ranger didn't see.
Building them bigger and putting a higher price on them really isn't helping me afford one.
Maybe I'm just being cheap, but at 16k, I'd better be able to sleep in it, or take a crap in it. The way the prices keep going, they'll soon be at the point where I'd expect I could do both.

That's only $4000 more than a new Sportsman Touring 850 EPS Super Graphite LE and only $10,400 more than a value 400.

Here goes Popo again....trying to take over the entire market. Looks like they have everything covered now.

Love my standard RZR and as for them being tippy that is total B.S.!!! You can take any machine at speed and crank the wheel or bars and bad things are going to happen. Yes, the wider machines are more stable but it all comes down to riding within your limits and situational awareness.
Roofer, I'm not saying they need to stay the same and sell underpowered machines that last forever but dropping the #1 selling sxs would be a mistake. Dodge57Hemi/Scootergpx hit the nail on the head with the Jeep thing. Make them too big/expensive will cause a number of problems. I know in MN, WI, and other states we are constantly battling to keep our access to trails. RZR-S and Commanders are worthless on the trails where I ride because any river/water crossing where there is a bridge/tressel they put large steel dividers that prevent mud trucks or machines wider than 50" from crossing. Get caught going around them in the river/wetland and you first face a huge fine, then next violation they can take your ride, and finally you can lose your rights forever. Serious stuff here. DNR is patrolling more and they are also up in the sky. Been lucky so far at my current area but had to stop riding completely at my last one because they were so thick.

Oh, there is A LOT of interest over at RZRForums about this machine. I have an RZR-S and ride the hell out of it in Maine. Have not been turned back once on the trails here. It is way more stable than a standard RZR and the suspension is fantastic. It's a fun machine and worth every dollar IMO. It's worth so much in fact, I'm selling it......and going to buy the RZR-XP. It's not just for the desert. There are wheel kits that will take 2" off each side and get me back to my required 60" width. Truthfully, I have not made the decision to go XP RZR yet. It's looking more and more likely by the day. This is going to be one crazy trial machine.

whats not to love about a rzr only thing better then riding is riding with friends and if that friend is beside you all the better....really the only reason i think sxs are doing so well is all the customizing
