Ranger Break In
#1
Finally took the plunge and got a 2011 Ranger 800 XP with EPS. I only had time to ride it a little on Saturday, but I am really happy with it.
Is there anything special I need to do regarding the break-in period? The guy at the dealership said change the oil and filter after 10 hours, nothing else needed. I'm sure there is more to it than just that. What else should I keep an eye on?

depending on the dealer I have talked to several about the sportsman 500 and each one will tell you their own opinions one told me 10 hour break in 1 told me 25 hours 1 told me just oil change and another told me oil, gear box and differentials need changed 1 told me ride it like I am going to ride it just dont maintain same speed for more than 3-5 seconds and another told me to take it easy not exceeding XXX RPMs or speed personally when it comes to the 1st oil change I am going to do all the oils and defferentials and all just to make sure that I get a clean start on it and not worry about something being in there if I spend that much money I would want it to be maintained and not take any chances

Change oil, tranny, and diffs at 25 hours(should be what the factory recommends) and then every 100 hours after that(more often if you are in deep mud/water a lot). I change all my fluids after spring mudding and then late fall before the snow hits.
