Ranger canvas cab towing????
#1
I just bought a Polaris OEM canvas cab and am wondering if anyone has towed with theirs installed?
The web site didn't say anything about not being towable, but when I opened my cab, there was a statement about not towing, what gives?
I've seen videos of other soft cab systems on UTV's being towed down the highway, closed doors, vinyl windshield & all, but the OEM I'm planning on using will have an acrylic windshield that says towable to 65MPH & I'm planning on making a plywood shield to protect the front Plexi shield and make it a bit bigger(wider/taller) to move the wind pressure around the sides & top too, then have a few straps running from the wooden shield to the box area to contain it all.

When ever we installed a soft top or canvas cab we showed the customer how to put it up in the parking lot,but we always rolled up the doors, windows, etc or simply took em down and gave it to the customer to keep them from flying off. Some have hauled the machines backwards, securing the rear windows, but we warned them it could get expensive if they lost it on the highway. Sounds like what you're doing should hold it together. OPT

Well, I dcided not to tempt the Gods & I decided to remove the cab and just leave the windshield on. I towed it up that way as I didn't have time to fix things if something would have gone wrong.
But the next time I'll try it the way I had 1st planned and when I won't be in a time crunch if it were to go badly.
I just wish that I'd have had the extra $$$$ to have bought a Poly or Fiberglass type cab and not have had to worry about any of this.

I have a canvas top ,no doors , and a glass economy windshied. I have towed it alot. You have to be careful and watch and see if the tops starts flopping slightly because it means your fiberglass rods have fallen out. They have done it 2 times and have towed it 30-40. It happens when it is really windy. Might not happen with the doors on? My 2 cents worth.
I should take it off as it is not that hard. Like you wish, I could afford a hard cover.
