My opinion on a K&N filter in dusty off road applications were never that good compared to a stock or Uni filter. No matter how they were maintained or even if they had covers, too much fine dirt could enter engines and eat up rings and cylinder bores. On a car, truck or motorcycles on street use they may be fine, but your bad luck doesn't change my opinion on them one bit on atvs or any off road machine.
