sportsmans rear cv boot cut
#1
i noticed that the cv boot on the back right axel is tore and letting all the grease come out, the machine only has 200 miles and is a week old. So I'm going to take it to the dealer today and get it fixed, also do you think spraying wd-40 on them would make them last longer? Someone told me that it eats them up,

where do you plan on spraying the wd?not in where the grease is?as long as you catch the tear in the rubber boot before the grease leaks the axle should still be ok just have to replace the boot..thats how it was on my car not sure about the sportsman

Most times the boot is torn by foreign objects like twigs, rocks or logs hiding in the mud left there by a previous rider that didn't invest in a winch (my pet peeve). The only other time I've seen a boot with a rip in it (it happened to me) was when the cv joint detonated and taking out the boot along with it. Of course there is the possibility of the boot reaching it's retirement age but that has to be at least 6 to 8 yrs. Oh yes one more, a defective cv boot. Well that just about covers it.
Later.
Later.
