yzf450 vs. Pred
Oh yeah? I haven't heard of pred trannies grenading, I have heard of a couple cases of the shifting feal getting weird though. I agree though, no matter what a manufacturer says about their quads being tested, theres usually glitches the fist year. I would think Polaris should have caught the popping issues fairly easily in testing, along with Yamaha catching bad trannies and weak axles in raptors, and Suzuki catching weak frames in Zs. Ah well, I couldn't be happier with the way my pred runs, and glad to hear your raptor is problem free as well.

I have not heard of one legit tranny grenade. I have heard of a couple bent shift forks causing tranny problems but no gear failures. The shift fork bends are related to shifting under load. The tranny gears are very strong and machined to very close tolerances. If you want to drag race it and power shift you need to get some work done to the tranny, some people are drilling holes in the gears and some other tricks to help release the pressure and oil flow.

Hate to break the news pick up the latest dirt wheels 4th gear blew and there was a grinding metal on there test quad! Does not sound like just forks. It is too bad but for all you Predator owners that constantly ragged on the Raptor tranny ... well I'll just leave it at that. For all the rest sorry to hear it hope it is only isolated and if not hope Polaris is better at fixing them than Yamaha.

He quad guys...Cannondale, Suzuki...then Polaris come out with more high performance sport quads. Now it appears yamaha decided to put one out of the park. I love my Predator but suspect I am going to be driving old beat up cars because there will probably be a YZF 450 in my garage also! ans Honda is gonna come out gunning sometimes here also! Excellent.

I'm still amazed at all of the garbage that comes out about the newest quads, and who's is better, etc. I think it is just great that the various manufacturers have stepped up to the plate lately, and are delivering some exciting new products for us quad enthusiasts. You know what? I loved the Banshee - still love 'em. Had a 250R, loved that too. Man, I can't wait to see the YZF450 - and you know what, If it is really impressive, I'll consider replacing my z400 (great bike though). But, no matter what, I'm keeping the Pred.....I just love this quad!
