Default starter removal help

i am pulling my starter off to block it off i already have the battery out

so now i just unbolt the side case where the pull start goes in right?

i have all the bolts out but it doesn't seem to want to come off do i have to take the plugs that are on the top and bottom off first?

what kind of fluid is inside this case and will it come out when i take it off?

any help would be appreciated

There isn't any fluid in that chamber of the motor. Remove the bolts, and a little trick to make things quick....that's if you used to play hockey....or have a longer chunk of hardwood laying around. Assuming you're running a slip-on K&N, or at least have the airbox out of the way, there are a couple of protrutions on that sidecover you can angle the wood down (with the seat off) and give it a few taps. Seems to me there were fastener/or fasterners behind the rear clutch cover too.

Are you sending your flywheel to HPD to have them lighten it?

i'm thinking about it

does it make a noticeable difference?

should i get it trail or race lightened?

i removed 31 pounds from my quad today between

starter, battery, mudflaps, sprocket guard, skidplates, lights, and bolts

should be quite a bit more after injection removed

How did you get the starter off? Did you have to remove the clutch covers?

Thanks,
