Default split brake ?

Would it be possible to disconnect the rear brake line from the hand brake so the hand brake only controls the front brakes and the foot brake would then control just the rear brakes. I would prefer not to have to spend $130 dollars for the split brake kit If I dont have to. Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks

Yes, this is possible because I have done this to my 99TB 250. I don't
know if its the best setup but it works okay. The only problem that I
have is that the rear brake does not fully release from the rotor
sometimes. I use the front 99% of the time anyway so the rear is only
for emergency stops. I added a second line to the rear so that both
sides of the disc is activated. I got all the stuff that I needed to block off
the main junction from the front and the "T" connection to add a second
line to the rear from NAPA. All for under 20 bucks!
