Default need help installing new 38 tooth Pred sprockett

I recently purchased that cool looking red 38 t sprockett for my pred. I ride mx and am looking for a little quicker kick out of the corners. My problem is that I must not be to mechanically inclined, because I cant seem to remove the masterlink from the chain, and second, I can't get that sprokett holder off the darn axle.

I got as far as removing the left rear wheel and hub, and taking the (4) bolts off the sprockett holding dohicki. And that my friends exhausted my mechanical abilities. I would appreciate any help.

Thanks

You do not have to take the master link off, loosen the two bolts that hold the axle carrier and take tension off the chain. The chain will come off of the sprocket. Remove tire and hub and remove old sprocket and replace with new one.

Like SP said, don't take the master link off. Someone else did that, and either didn't put it back together properly, or they may have weakened it when reinstalling it. Anyway, while he was racing, it snaped. Loosening up chain tentioner will give you plenty of room to get the chain off.
