Default Water pump update SP 700

Anybody do the fix for the '02 SP 700 themselves? If so, how long did it take and was it difficult? Was the fix just the new metal cover, or do you install new seals too?

Not sure what your water pump problem is. is the cover leaking in front out of the gasket? This was the problem on mine. I have been told their is a updated thicker gasket for it. I found this out after I had fixed mine. All I did was take the cover off and cleaned it up really good making sure not to gouge the surface. You say somthing about a metal cover, mine was plastic, (02 700). I was able to reuse the old gasket and just used some rtv sealer, I ran a bead around the outside edge of the cover to eliminate the gap between the cover and the housing, then reassembled it. The sealer will ooze out a little but you can wipe off the excess. This has worked so far for me. about 400 miles on this fix. No Leaks!

the fix is free from your Polaris dealer.
they install the new-and-improved bracket and some other things. it's free and repairs the leak so why not let your dealer do it?

Well, normally I would take the ATV to the Polaris dealer but he is about 2.5 hours away. I was hoping that maybe the parts would be cheap and the labor easy and just do it myself.

Actually, it's not the closest, but it's the one that I bought it from and I figure they are the only ones who would do it for free. The closest Polaris dealer sucks so I don't give them any of my business - including service work. There are some that are about an hour away that I could consider going to as well I suppose.
