BRAND LOYALISM?
#1
you know, i love polaris, but after reading an article about the new yamaha 450 sport quad, i now think im' more open minded. 45 h.p. & 350 lbs. i really don't think that the preadator can hang' with this quad stock for stock. am i wrong? will polaris build a lighter preadator? polaris has the utility market cornered in my opinion, but what about the pure sport market? (i was about to buy a preadator) should i wait? what about the 700 scrambler rumor?

Don't believe the hype, Yamaha is great for this. The motor won't be as strong as you think off the showroom floor, it needs some tweeking to get the 2 wheeler power. Remember the Raptor and how that was gonna be? to me it didn't live up to the hype they spread about it.

I am notorius for brand loyalty and for this reason i say get the predator. For the diff in price you can get some nice parts for the pred and smoke that yamaha. And polaris is an American company and the underdog how can you not support them

The Raptor was big time "light" when they released it...til it hit some independent scales, and the truth came out. Just wait and see, I would put money that the 450 isn't quite as light as they say. Clean machine though, but time, and the tracks will sort things out.

It is a fact that the Yamaha motor actually will displace 439cc for the ATV units and they have changed the exhaust cam to a smaller one. So it will not be as potent as the bike motor. It is also said that the gearing will not be tall either. The stock Rappy will have about 2mph more on top end. All this coming out of the new issue of Dirty Wheels in which the subscription has still not run out. Bubba
