Sorry to hear that Geoff. Like Pudl said, I like them all too, but are you sure you want to risk another tranny grenading Yamaha turning it's cheek, that the Raptor owners suffered? Polaris has stuck by the Predator from day one...I've even heard of quite a few "good faith", just out of warranty fixes. After Yammi's record with the 2001 Raptor, I know I'd be waiting at least a year. A buddy of mine holds his breath every time we ride. He's looking at $700 to upgrade the trans...and that's out of his pocket. Good luck with whatever you do.

I'm keeping the pred .
Like so many of you have other bikes to ride when one is recovering.
I will now have the same luxury.
Ken. it is certainly hard to ignore the 01 raptor probs.
I believe yamaha made a mistake that they will not want to make again.
There will be problems I'm sure, but hopefully with guys like you around ready to help, we will as allways find a fix.
Ist prob--- no dedicated plug for the kill switch like the pred has.

I'm thinkin about doing the same thing, but I'm going to have to sell my dirtbike first.
I haven't had a chance to see one in person, I haven't heard of anybody in my area getting one yet.
I'm racing in a local Fair race this Thursday and Friday night(weather permitting, since friday we've gotten close to 10"s of rain) and it sponsered by the local Yamaha dealer so I'm sure if he has one it'll be there.
I also thought I might wait till fall to make sure Honda wasn't going to put out a CRF450, cause if they do I would rather have a Honda.
If Anybodys lookin for a Fast Clean 01 CR250R PM me!

Aussie- good choice. Curtis Sparks is very good at what he does. I do not see 11 hp but i know from riding a new 450 they are chocked up a bit. Replace the stock silincer and remove the air box lid. If it were mine i would cut 95 percent of the air box. There will be a metal tube to mount a clamp-on air filter shortly. You will understand that after you look at the stock set-up. The 450 is going to be a great quad. You are on your own if parts fail, really no big deal to me. You break it, you fix it and upgrade at the same time. The 01 raptor trannies sucked, i broke 2 of them. That is life in the toy world. The good side is i learned to work on it myself. I would not trust the dealer to do it 100 percent right.
