Start with a 175 main and go from there.I did find out through trial and error that if you run a (1) # colder plug it runs like crap on the big end.I put my stock plug in it and jetted for the plug and it worked way better than before.Seemed like it would "put the fire out" at high RPM.Guess the compression and fuel (110)at high RPM dont mix with a colder plug.Stock is a BR8ES.

if you have top end problem, gap the plug to 18-20 and retard timing 2 degrees,it will flat out scream on top end then...

Haven't got the race pipe yet so I don't think I need to retard the timing yet,or do I?

actually the retarded timing is for more power output,it give more top
end and a cooler running engine, especially good on a modded motor cauze of the excess heat.meanwhile timing advance give more mid-range but
warmer (leaner) heat at full open throttle.the hot seat gen 2 pipe work good at around 1250 degrees at half throttle.
since i run the 21.5 timing curve, temp drop about 200-300 degree on my digatron guage at idle and give a little more powerband on tap,so i can lean it out in the long run for better performances then...

Should I or shouldn't I retard the timing? If so how do you go about doing that?

To retard the timing you turn the stator clockwise about an 1/8 of an inch, and this will give you about 2 degrees.

that it! 1/8 of a turn,be sure your timing is on stock setting (23.5 degrees) before you're going to reset.
you should try it out tough, jetting become obvious then with the race mods and it doesn't harm the engine at all.
