Scrambler HPD Exhaust & Clutch HELP!!!
#12
The 2-3 may be your problem.Try the 2-2 i think you will notice the difference. If you want even better performance try some 53gram weights. The 2-2 is pretty much a standard setting for most clutch kits.Try it and let us know.

I currently have the 10-58 weights that came with the kit. I will try the fish scale trick as well.
THe 2-2 and the 13 pounds, is that in your experience or across the board or what? ALso, I am assuming that the direction for pulling for hte fish scale is in the counterclockwise?

I called HPD and talked to Mike. He said that the springs for the secondary cluth should be 2-2, not the 2-3 that the instructions state. Has anybody else run into this? I know CED also statedt this.

OK- Update! After I spoke to Mike at HPD, he said it should be on 2-2 and the spring pressure should be 13lbs. I put it on 2-2 and wound it 2 times. Both times it came to 22 lbs! Well, I figured oh well and tried it anyway. It definately has more uumph now, but nothing insane, like some on the site has said.
I am taking it to a rock quarry Sunday. i will let you all know how it does!

Make sure you measure the spring pressure all the way to the outside of the sheave.22lbs is too much. They have some small indentions on one side of the sheave, this is where you need to measure it from.Keep us updated.

When I was in 3-2, the pressure was 16 lbs and the quad was a dog. Even during assembly, I knew that 22lbs was high, but that is what you recomended and HPD stated (Even though the instruct. say 3-2, he said it is the wrong instruct. and should be 2-2). I put it together regardless and it seems much better. Low and mid are great, top seems about the same.
I know the 22 lbs is too much, but it sems to be perfect for me. I did use the small indentations (they are for balancing). Bougth a brand new fish scale to test. Regardless, if it WAS tootight, the quad would rev up too much and be a dog. As it is, it seems to be pretty good. I am taking it out this weekend and will see.
What is the worse that will happen? Snapped belt?

OK ALL, the first big test this weekend with all the changes. Low and mid are great (not outstanding). It seems that the 2-2 at 22 lbs is working rather well.
Let me tell you- if you are even considering the mudlites- go for them! They are great everything tires. Mud, gravel, dirst, hardpack, wet grass- they do well in everything. I will post some pictures of mine soon.
Take it easy and tahanks for all you help guys!

USMCQuader, I installed my HPD air box and carb mod the other day. I had to install a 170 main jet with it too. When I pulled the main jet out of the carb, low and behold it was a 165! That has me confused. I wonder why you got a 160 and I got a 165???? We really are that much different in elivation?
