A guy that i ride with has a sp700 that is stuck in 4Wd, he doesn't like it because it's a lot harder to steer, and doesn't handle as good. It's an '02. Any ideas?

 

Has he tried unpluging the front hub, and looking for 12v? It sounds like there's a short in his handlebar switch.

 

Has he put it in Reverse and tried that? I know if one hub gets stuck you can put it in reverse and back up a little bit and then it should release....

 

I AGREE WITH LOVEMUD, 1ST YOU NEED TO FIND OUT IF ELECTRICAL OR MECHANICAL, THIS UNIT HAS A CENTRALIZED HILLARD SYSTEM THAT ENGAGES AT THE CENTER INSTEAD OF AT EACH WHEEL. HAS HE RECENTLY CHANGED THE OIL IN THE FRONT T-BOX?

 

im not to knowledgable on the 700 but my dads 500 magnum's 4 wheel drive would not kcik out because the last time he did an oil change the dealer gave him the wrong grease for the zerks. it was to hard of a grease and that is what caused it. later

It only has 700 miles on it. i'll try that on Saturday with him.

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but did you get this resolved? My 700 is doing the same thing.
