Scrambler 500 Pipe
#1
I just bought a 00' Scrambler 500. After looking at some prior post I was considering the FMF megamaxII pipe. I really don't want to have to rejet or play with the carbs. Also what would be a good air box mod? I want to get away from the paper filter. Any other bolt ons ideas that work would be appreciated.

Don't waste your money on the fmf. Go with hpd or stay stock and just get a clutch kit from hpd, hotseat, aaen. Get a K&N filter to replace the stock paper filter.
The hpd pipe for the 500 from what I have heard in posts, and from my dealer who happens to race polaris is the only pipe that will really improve your performance. You have to get a clutch kit with it.
Probably the easiest modification you can make that will improve your handling trmendously is get some holeshot XCT's.

When you start doing things to make the quad breathe better (pipes, filters, air box mods) you have to allow more fuel to the carb to compensate for it. If you don't re-jet you'll never realize full power and you risk damaging the motor.

I forgot to mention that the Hpd pipe is rather large. It is not a real attractive pipe either. I think it looks better than the hotseat pipe. Performance is what counts. I cant decide if I want to go ahead and modify my 500, or sell my 500 and buy a 400 to modify?
