Default Break-in period

I have a 2002 polaris 500 that I just bought as a holdover and am wondering what is the best way to break it in. I have been driving around my house for the past 2 weeks waiting til I have enough money for a trailer and have gone through 2 tanks of gas. I have heard you are supposed to change the oil after 2 tanks, I have heard you are supposed to break it in like you plan on riding it. I have not beat on it yet and was wondering what I should do if anything now that I have about 10 hours of riding on it.
