fan switch

Default fan switch

does anyone know how to rig a toggle switch up to the fan on a 2001 sportsman 500 so that you have auto and manual on the fan? i have been having problems with mine overheating. i dont think the fan is kicking on as much as it shouldbecause it dont overheat all the time. thanks for any help.

I took out the auto switch on my 300 xpress and just wired it together to where it runs when I turn the key on cause the switch keep going out on it.Works fine now.

Make sure your radiator isn't full of mud, dead bugs etc.

Take it off and clean it.

My Scrammy was overheating because of that.

Its worth a try.

plowboy, My grandpa was having the same problem in his 2000, 500 sportsman. He took it to the shop and alls they did was add more radiator fluid because even though it was at the full line on the tank, it wasn't enough to trip the sensor. Add a little more fluid and see what happens. Hope i helped

thanks for the help. i have took the rad out and cleaned it and bled all the air out of the rad several times. by running the fan all the time couldnt that burn up the fan motor. this is a problem that i havee been fighting for several months and every time i thaink ive got it fixed it starts overheating again.

Mine hasnt burned up at all,still has the stock one on it!
