dmshee, i just put a 02 400 explorer tranny into my 02 500 scrambler w/o a problem but you may be referring to the 400 scrambler tranny. If you're interested in the 02 500 scrambler tranny that i just pulled out let me know, has about 150 miles on it. thanks.

mngoat: Did the explorer transmission bolt right in? I'd like to put an explorer transmission on my scrambler so i could have high and low range.

Yes the tranny bolts right in. Airbox needs to changed and make a mount for the shifter. Been running an Xplorer trans for two years.

Hey, 425Xpedition, How hard do you use that quad w/ the exploerer tranny in it? I have a Scrambler 500 4x4 2001. Would LOVE to have low range. Does the exploerer tranny give you a lower range, or does it give you a higher range than the stock Scrammy? I've never heard of this mod before, and am completely sold on the idea already. Any info would be apreciated. Thanks, Pyro57

How hard do I use it? Well you do not 28's on a scrambler just to ride around in the parking lot!!!! When I ride it I usually ride it pretty hard. The low range makes the bike alot more fun. During the summer when it is dry I run 25" Rawhides on it. With the low range it makes the bike a very fun trail machine. A little more ground clearance from the tires and plenty of power to climb anything you want. One of the best mods I have done to the bike.
