On the front clutch,it is made of a white plastic, also check belt deflection for a worn belt, that also can have an effect on top speed.

I replaced the belt. No help. Is the nut behind the drive clutch cover? It is the only white piece I see. It has slots in it.

Yes,it should be tight against the inside of the clutch.

Can this be tightened with a normal wrench, and does the clutch cover have to be removed,

Thanks

I believe that it is the spacer. Where exactly is the nut? I have not cleaned the clutches. I checked the spring on the drive clutch, It looked O.K. Bike will run about 52 downhill and drops to 48 on slight uphill grade. It has very good acceleration. It just flattens out at that speed.

I am not reffering to the plastic bushing that guides the long bolt. their is a white piece behind the spring. Don't have bike apart right now to tell exactly.

I know this might a stupid question, but what nut are you refering to? I can bury my speedo on my ho at 60 mph on a straight away. I've had both of my clucthes off and disassembled to clean the belt dust and mud out. on polaris, you need to keep your clutches fairly clean for top preformance.
