Those darn squeeking brakes!!!
#1
So tell Mag. and SP. owners, how do I quiet down those disc brakes. They really squeek when I back up. Not so bad forward but still noisy. Is it the price we pay for good brakes (non-drum)???

I have had good luck with just bleeding the brakes every so often. Also, I have heard several guys using disc brake pad silencer on these and it helps tremendously (available at any auto parts store) I was going to use it the last time I had my machine apart, except the tube I had was dried up and I didn't want to go to the store. Also, keep the brakes as clean as possible. I have made it part of my annual service to tear the brakes apart and clean them up. Hope this helps.

When my machine sits for a few weeks without being rode, the brakes have a tendency to stick partially shut, thus making them squeal more. Bleeding the brakes out allows them to withdrawl the piston fully and give more clearance between the pads and the rotor. I am no brake mechanic, but this seems to work.
