Hotseat Speed Kit.
#1
I put in a Hotseat Speed kit into one of my 2003 250 TB over the weekend and I am not sure I really like it. I did not gain any MPH and it is Loud, the clutch locks up a little late, so late that I have to press the over-ride button to use reverse and is a little hairy stopping on a hill and restarting without worring about flipping over.
I know the instructions told me check the Belt deflection but it is almost new machine (2 months old) and the belt looked fine and all I did was change the springs, Pink front, White rear. I did think it was a little loose......I tried it out on Sun and it hooked up hard I just dont like the fact that I have to rev it up to get it to move and the noise factor is a concern.

Thats the way some clutch kits work. They rev high till it hits the bottom of the powerband and then kicks in. And yes Hotseat pipes are really loud and you can not change the silencer. HPD,AAEN and RCR would have been a better choice. Hotseat is to agressive on the take off. You can change the primary spring to a lighter one so it wont rev as high But it wont hit the powerband as quick.

Thanks 2 many, my belt looked like it may have been loose but my machine is only a month or so old and only riden a few times, so I did not adjust it if for some reason I need to adjust it how much can a person adjust it....length wise?
thanks

Are you sure that you did not set the secondary clutch too tight? That would cause an excessively high revving motor.
I agree taht HPD would have been a better choice. Reagrdless, check the 2nd clutch tension.

Not sure how I could have set the seconday clutch to tight, it calls for the white spring and and in postion 2 and 3. HSP said that it is working like it is suppose to, so I may leave it for now, has anyone went back to the factory clutch set up? It works ok the way it is, but somtimes around the farm I like to take it easy and with this setup you cannot.

I Obviously have hte HPD kit and it is right in the in between stage that I can use it for slow tral riding and all out wheelies and pulls.
If you win the spring too tight, it will wait longer to engage. If can be done becuase I did it by accident.
