first test drive of hpq-103 on 500 scrambler 4x4
I just rode my '99 500 scrambler with the hpq-103 primary clutch. It was set up with the recomended a-1 arms and black spring. The engagement rpm was about 1000-1500 rpm higher than stock. My scrambler never did wheelie and still won't but it is getting the front end lighter now. I liked it better with the stock engagement speed. I just trail ride and now I feel like the engine is racing all the time because it is. I'll call comet and see if the have a suggestion Monday. I will post their answer and results of the correction after my next trail ride.

I was told by Dean at Comet Industries that all the polaris' use the same engine output flange so their clutch will work on any polaris model atv. All you do is change the lever arms and springs. The a-1 arms with the black spring has a 3500 rpm engagement and Dean said to try the pink spring to lower the engagement rpm to about 2200. I should have the spring in a week and if I get it before this weekend I will report how it works in the trails by Sunday.So far I like the clutch but wish the engage rpm was right from the start.

the best clutch kit for trail riding is the heelclicker, my takes off right off idle and allows me to crawl over trail obstacles like having a granny gear , yet when I nail the throttle it takes off like a bat out of hell, and will wheelie from a stand still. I've even wheelied drag racing. this kit allows you to set it up all different ways! best investment I made.

But I just got an 04, & I hit the gas & it goes up.
