HPD mods are on the 250 but I have some questions.
#1
I put the HPD pipe and clutch kit on the 250 today. I am extremely impressed with how fast it comes on once it does come on. Is it normal for the rpm to have to be so high to start moving? I have to use the reverse over ride to move in reverse now. Just curious if this is normal or if I did something wrong. I know that the secondary spring has to be wound just right so I hope that I got it right. This is my sons bike so it is very important to me that everything be working correctly. Any input would be very helpful. THANK YOU RICK RITTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is normal using the override button since now it engages at a higher RPM since (i'm assuming that you changed the spring on the primary) you have different clutching. If it runs as good as you say it does then it sounds like you got the spring on the secondary wound ok. Since you have a stiffer primary spring it will rev a bit more before it engages and yes that is normal. I agree Rick is the best. Enjoy!!!!!!!

Thanks for the reply! I kinda thought I had everything ok but it's always nice to have a second opinion. I can't wait to see how it does on the trails. What setting is everyone using on the secondary spring? The instructions say 3-2 but I've heard people say they like 2-2 better. I sure hope this kid of mine realizes how lucky he is. What spring can I use to lower the RPM engagement? I would feel more comfortable if it were closer to idle than it is now. Currently has red/yellow on the primary with gold on the secondary and I believe ( forgot to write it down) it has 58g weights. Would the HPD plain work well?

I would call and ask Rick. I'm not sure just what the 250's modded clutching is supposed to be. I know of a guy using a HPD plain on his 250 and likes it quite well. Lower engagement and all. Hope this helped.

I talked to Rick. He said the HPD plain would make it engage earlier but would loose some snap. So I think were just going to leave it the way it is and get used to the different feel. The only bad thing about this set up is.............. I tore the **** out of my yard testing it! That 250 sure spins the tires easy now. I wish Rick sold oem parts! I would buy all my parts from him.
