Default 99 Sportsman Tire Selection???

I am looking in to getting some new tires for my four wheeler. Should I go with a 26" tire or just stay with the 25" tire. I am looking at the mudlites, but they are too big for the front if I go with a 26" tire. What do you all think??? Thanks for you suggestions!!!

I put the 27" C-series on my sp500 and it was a pain in the a$$. Had to use 1" spacers, then they rubbed on the fenders, so tightened up springs and used spacers.. Think I would have maybe gone with 9" wide on front rather than 10, but since I did not try do not know how they would do. Back was just fine no prob.

What would you or anybody else recommend for a 26" tire. I wanted the lightest mud tire available in 26x9x12 in the front and probably 26x10x12 or 26x12x12 in the back. Does anybody got in suggestions??? Thanks!!!

The 589 m/s are supposed to be a bit on the lighter side. Had 26X10X12 rears on my explorer that got me through a mud hole that I could not do stock. But with all the mud lite hype went with those instead when bought full set.

THe 25" tire will do fine. THe 589 is more agressive but rides rougher. The MudLitye is a good choice.

Thank you both, but how much more ground clearance will I have over the 25" tire. Just one inch, but I would think it would be a little more??? This may be a dumb question, and I am sorry!!!

In theory you will only get 1/2 " more ground clearance since 26 is the diameter or height, 1/2" more under (hub to bottom of tire) or ground, 1/2" more above (hub to top of tire). Although there is some variance in different tire brands. I really do not feel much differance in the ride of the mudlite vs 589 M/S, they are both bumpier at low speeds mostly on hard pack. BTW there is no such thing as a dumb question.

Yes you will definately, but is a trade off. Lose bit of top end but better traction. Not all that noticable though. Lost about 7 mph going from stock 25 to 27 mudlites on my 500ho.

I run 26"x10x12s on the front and 26"x12x12 on the rear mounted on ITP C series rims. The rear are no problem but the front tires rub the fenders, annoying! I installed P HD springs up front along with a Wayne Gretzky lift kit, well actually one cut into tow and installed half in each side. This raised the front approx.. 1 1/2" at the rack and did improve the rubbing problem but did not eliminate it entirely.
Another problem was the tire rubbed the tie-rod-end and that was fixed using 2 washers on each stud. I am happy with this setup but it would be nice to eliminate the rubbing all together.
