Default Scrambler 400 starter I've had it!!!!!

WHo has had there 400's starter go bad. The bendix sucks and the starter has a mind of it's own.
I must have replaced my starter twice and rebuilt it to many times. as for the bendix it to has been replaced and rebuilt and cleaned but, it always fails. IT dosen't even matter if it is sealed in the case good or not it still fu(KS up.
THis last time got me though. I got a starter rebuild kit(had no problems do that) I looked at the bendix and it had no signs of wear and I even replaced the bushings that the bedix rides in .It all worked great after i put it back together.then I went to start it for a ride and CLICK,CLICK,CLICK nothing!!!!Needless to say I was pissed.
After riding for a hour it worked again, ontill it was time to go into the truck. now I'm thinking I'll take it off all together.

sounds like a plan... then you wouldn't have to worry about it not workin. The pull start works good. Then if you take the starter off you could go ahead and take the battery off and loose some more weight.

Yes, then after the starter and battery are gone, send your flywheel in to get lightened!

Naturalite, with the White Brothers battery eliminator, you can still have lights with no battery. (except at a low idle) Works great I have used my light alot.

Sounds to me like your battery needs to be checked, Sounds like it it only maintaining a service chg and does not have any cranking amps left to run the starter or you are have too much voltage drop between the battery and ground or the battery and starter also ck your starter relay, bypass it and see if it cranksCk all your connections at the battery ground and the engin ground the engin ground might have broke off from the flexing of the engin
