Default CV joint Boot

After riding this past weekend I noticed a popping sound and discovered the CV boot on the left rear of my SP500 was split. This is a 3 month old wheeler. I called the dealer and they said as long as there was no evidence of a puncture from a stick or other object they would cover it under warrenty. A friend of mine said to try to get them to replace the CV joint and axle. He said if it popped once the joint would have to be replaced eventualy and I should persue this while it't still under warrenty.

Question: How likely are they to replace the CV joint, boot and axle?

About as likely as flying pigs delivering buckets of gold to little green leprechauns to hide at the end of rainbows

Ditto.

Most likely cause is stick though, that is what happened to mine but I noticed mine right away as the tree was still stuck in it after a couple miles yet. Was about 80 to replace from dealer.

Just count yourself lucky to get the dealer to replace the boot. A cousin had one tear and while he was showing it to me I checked mine and all was well. Two miles later and just happened to glance that way again and I had one torn and we hadn't been anywhere near any sticks. Dealer said, "It's a wear item." and that was that.

I have lost 2 rear boots, not from branches or sticks but from rocks. What happens is that when riding through mud holes rocks get kicked up onto the A frame and get cradled there wrecking the boot. I was lucky I noticed the rock before the cv self destructed.

I checked it out a little closer. The boot is completely off the joint but not torn. It shows no evidence of a sitck, rock or anything of the sort. It is seperated perfectly as if you took a razor and slowly cut all the way around. It's not jagged or torn at all. The wheeler is only 3 months old so I wouldn't think ware and tare. I think it was defective from the factory.

My opinion is they should replace the joint and boot. I'll let you know in a day or two how it turns out.
