I have a new 700 and 600 sportsman. It has come to my attention that frame welds are coming apart. At approx 300 miles on the 700, 7 welds on the frame had paint cracked or gone. At 400 miles 7 welds were magnafluxed and 4 were broken. Polaris answer is to have it welded. The 600 has 150 miles on it and the paint is broken on 7 welds. 4 of these welds are on the front lower a-arms to the frame, 2 are on the rear lower a-arms at the end of the frame tube and 1 is by the transmission mount on the right side. I have a friend who has a newer 700 and is experiencing the same problems. Since the polaris answer is to just weld I am going through the attorney generals office to address this issue. To expensive of a bike to have this kind of a problem so early on.

Curious why??? All three machines were purchased from Cliffs Cycle Center in Bremerton Washington. build date on the 700 (2003 model) 12/16/2002, purchase date 5/21/03. vin number 4XACH68A93A753165. When I bought the 700 it had 4.5 miles on it and it already had one broken weld. The 600 (2003 model) was purchased at the same time, I do not have then numbers handy but I can get them in a couple of days. My friends 700(2003 model) has a purchased date of 12/18/02, vin number 4XACH68A43A732448.
I still own a 1998 sportsman 500 with 2700 miles on it. It is a very good machine and todate the machine has no welds broken or paint cracks.
Another note: the 600 at 150 miles had low coolant level. My 700 at 400 miles has had the coolant reservoir filled twice.
