Default Running scram in 2wd after Chain break?

Curious how bad for the bike is this? We where out for a ride today and my brothers chain broke. I dont think he broke the caseing, but i havent looked to closely at it. We towed him for a bit, but he also drove for a bit, about 5kms back to camp. Mind you it took all he could to turn the front wheels with the heavy steering..but it got him home. Wondering how bad for the bike it is?

Can't see why it would hurt anything. A buddy blew the rear gear in his 500 Suckzuki and drove it about 10 miles on the front wheel drive. On the Polaris, everything is spinning up to the hubs all the time anyway.

Yep, won't hurt anything, had a friend that was in a harescramble, got hit, broke rear axle in half, he rode back to his truck in 4wd, probably 10 miles or so and no problems. It is good insurance to have though in case the chain breaks or something, at least you are not stuck.
