Default Who has new Predator CDI?

I'm now thinking about getting a new CDI to increase the RPM's over stock. I'm aware of Rath, Vortex, etc. Who is running one now on their Predator? What are your thoughts on it? Is it worth it? How many RPM's are you pulling over stock?

I have one and liked mainly how in the upper RPM's you have "overrev" Without the box the limiter started to cutout the engine right past peak power. The Vortex Box will let you pull it higher. The engine seems to rev faster but that could be me justfying the clams spent on the thing. The rev limiter is set at 9150 vs. stock 9000. keep in mind the stock rev limiter starts cutting the advance out at 8500 RPM which starts making anything above that more useless as you go to 9000. The Rath or Vortex lets you go right to 9150.

JJwenzle, thanks for your info. When you hit the new rev limit around 9150 RPMs, from what your saying here it does not prematurely kick in before that, does it? Is there "bounce" off it like the stock limiter, or is it smoother?

Anyone else with one, keep the feedback coming. Thanks.

Is there even a need for more RPM's if power has already started dropping?

it mean you have full map of timing available from the CDI til a new rev
limit of 9150,no timing cut off and NO drop of power output to 9150 rpm, that a major increase over the stock powerband, wich cut off at around 8500 as others stated.

It's also probably a good idea to upgrade the valve-springs when doing this. Odds are the stockers will work o.k., but it would be some cheap insurance.

actually mod, I heard that the stockers hold up well, and the rath CDI does amazing things for even a bone stock pred. But I would agree that if you go the HPD route that programs to 10,100, then yeah, I would upgrade the springs then too!

Pudl, you know me, that's the one I was gabbing about. HPD has the software to re-curve aftermarket boxes, with their own custom curve.

Damm, 10k+. I'd like to see the dyno-chart on that one. Anybody have info on the kind of HP that's there over 8500?

HPD was still doing some waiting on the final top notch cams. Those numbers might be a while yet. The rest of the gear smokes though. Have ridden some, and witnessed the others in some drags.
