Default serious trouble w/ Sp. 500

i have a 99 500 sportsman and i hit a huge amount of water, enough to make the water come over the front racks and as soon as i did it, it started spitting and spuduring. belt is slipping a little, but i ain't worried about that. the sound it makes in low and high is awful, sounds like it is a TERRIBLE miss at half or more throttle, but NOT in neautral or low speeds in high/low. 4x4 is working , but that spudurring and gargling sound is messy. what happened, and what do i do? thanks all!!!

If your belt is still slipping you still have water in the clutch housing. Put it in neutral and hold the revs at 1/3 to 1/2 throttle and look for water coming out of the clutch vent. If yes hold the rpm for several minutes to dry it out.

Check float bowl for water, drain on bottom of carb, check for water in airbox getting pulled into engine, spark plug may have got wet and moisture under spark plug wire cap.
