I met an "ATV Expert" on Friday!
#1
On my way out to dinner on Friday evening I could not resist stopping in at the local ATV dealer since it was only 3 miles out of the way (Tousley). This is a large metro dealer with a great inventory of Yamaha, Honda and Artic Cat quads.
Being in the market for a new machine my son and I decided to do a static side by side comparison of the Rancher 350ES (5195)and the Kodiak (5899. While were measuring ground clearances with a tape and testing the suspensions for resiliancy "The Expert" walked up to us and prounced, "In my opinion , you should buy the Rancher."
I looked around but the only thing that I could see was a 90lb. 13 yr. old kid with glasses. Then "The Expert" spoke again, yep it was him alright.
I asked him if he owned a quad and said no, but... that he had read every ATV magazine there was for the last two years and the Rancher was the finest machine available. I asked him if he had ever ridden a quad but he had not.
Then I asked him if he was familiar with the ATV Connection and he said, "Oh, yeah I go there all the time and participate."
I had to control myself and not burst out laughing as an uncontrolable grin began to spread across my face.
I was mentally assigning screen names to this young fellow and asking myself could that be...? LOL
Anyhow... After our expert had acquanted himself with the adjustable suspension, automatic trans, shift on the fly 2wd/fwd, 25 inch tires, larger rack capacities, 401 cc., disc brakes, and dry storage. He appeared to be a bit bewildered and less confident in his original recommendation.
But he made a remarkable recovery and said that, "Of course all trail conditions vary, and each rider would have their own individual preferences regarding specifications and features on an ATV."
I think I met a future magazine writer for Dirt Wheels!!

You should have asked him his forum name. If anybody can piece the hometown to a name, it would be interesting to see who this is. My bet is on Sledder (wrong town, but he may be lying again). Its amazing the number of experts out there. I have ridden ATV's for 20 years and own two myself and I'm still learning new things. You should have told the little sh@t to go play with his tricycle until he was old enough to play with the big boys.
Register to Vote, unless you some little 13 year old punk with no ATV, then go play with your pokemon toys.

No, I didn't see his girlfriend but his Dad did ask what the 2wd/4wd button was for. When I told him what it was he asked me if 4wd was really necessary.
By this time my son's eyes were rolled so far back into his head that his expression looked like the "Undertaker" from the WWF.
Could somebody please post the link to Sledder's website.

Hey Thor,
I am not sure but I think SLEDDER has a direct line to the moderator of this web site.
Everytime I have used the name SLEDDER in my post they have either been edited or deleted by the moderator.
Anyway, I would love to post it but the Moderator has already threatened to revoke my posting privledges if I do so.
Anybody that wants the address you can email me and I will email it back to you.
(Oh well, I guess I could always hang out at the Steel Riders web site. Thats where all of the people that get kicked off of here go)
