Quadfather,

The adjustable suspension, suspension travel, softer seat, automatic trans, shift on the fly 2wd/fwd, 12 volt power outlet, 25 inch tires, larger rack capacities, 401cc., disc brakes, and dry storage, Hi/Low range were what I liked about the Kodiak. With the $600 difference in price

I would go with the Kodiak but my son preferred the Honda Rancher for it's oil cooler/Fan, closed crankcase vents, internal sump, reusable air filter, drum brakes, wheel bolt pattern and the standard instrumentation.

So you can see that my choice is based upon creature comforts but my son prefers durability.

Hello Ryda seems you are fairly on the right track as being a police officer I see so many kids that don't have respect for there parents let alone a police officer...THis is what saddens me as you say the youth is what is to come if parents don't pay attention to their kids then the outcome is later presented when they get into real world affairs...I once thought I knew it all but as I got older I found out I knew less but I must say my dad had the attitude that if some mischief or other thing was taking place I was probably involved...there was no sparing the rod, but I am glad of this cause it has made me a better individual in the ripe old age of 42...nuff said.

I have a lot of respect for both my parents and police officers, they both have hard jobs.I don't think i know it all i know that i have a lot to learn,i know that all of you know a lot more than me,but,I am a teenager and people let me say what i got to say,and i have sat back and looked at whats happening to all these other teens(i hang around them you know)and their parents get mad when they try to say something that makes sense, seems to me that parents don't like taking advice from a kid,so they shut us up,then,we get mad for not getting it out of us,and that is what happens to a lot of my friends and i have noticed it,my Dad has brought me up in a way that if i have something to say say it and don't wait and then regret it later for not saying it,and if i make a mistake in what i say,my dad tells me.So,i don't just go off in running my mouth,i try to make sense when i talk but yet i still want to be a kid..haha.you know?i think that to get respect you have to show respect, and a lot of people look at me and automatically think i am a punk by the way i look, its like,if u expect a bad attitude, then thats what you are gonna get, right? So,then people start calling us punks.I know, a lot of us do have bad attitudes.Anyway, back to the topic,if that kid thinks he knows it all(he seemed to know a lot)but just tell him that to really experience the difference you should ride both, don't make fun of him,and why would the dad be embarrassed??I also hate when people say.........."well,you're just a kid what do you know" that is the way my mom treats me and that is why we don't get along, and when we make sense don't say "no" and start saying something else that don't make sense just to show that well your the adult and you know more.SORRY!!!!!!!

HAVE FUN!!!

Well Thor, I see you made your choice on a 500 mag 4X4 and your comments on the Y2K Kodiak is the reason I bought one and trail 8 and 6 in Iron County Wis really gave me some experience on handling BUT the Kodiak DID what I expected in stock form putting its first 400 miles of breakin riding. Future mods will be added as $$ prevails to improve some of the short coming features such as tires, pressure washer, speedo, tow hook front and rear etc.

Mac,
How was that trail 8? We never got on that one but heard some rumors that portions of it were virtually impassable.

Lee and I will be off later today to do some break-in miles on the new 500. I think that we will run the Soo Line from Moose Lake west to the end of it.

Thor and Odin, Trail 8 was very wet and goooey in many spots but floodrunner led the way and he was the only one that did not get stuck but came close. Karen, Dusty, Dave and myself needed a tug in one spot and the rest was great mudding!!!!! both of you need to take Thor's new 500 up there for it's breakin like my Kodiak had to do(hehehe).

No I haven't been anywhere since Hurley. Been traveling to Mayo clinicthis past week and now back to work on weekends and I have recieve email from folks from lower mich and ohio planning a trip to Rich's Motel for some riding this coming weekend or this month.

For the price you paid Thor did you get a winch, hot grips, and speedo for that $5500 ??? I paid $6100 with these options out the door for my Y2K Kodiak.
