Suggestion to all new quad owners
#1
Take it apart!!!! Take the time to take you quad apart and see what's what and where and how it comes apart.....
I finally took the time to dismantle my ride this evening....I didn't go taking parts off the engine (not that brave...yet) just all the plastic, front bumper, seat, clutch cover, gas tank, air box, etc....don't try to completely dismantle it just get familiar with it.
It's not much but I actually learned some good things....like what tools are essential to have either with me riding or at least back at the camp/truck! There's only about 5 tools needed to break a Scrammy down to parade rest...
I'm not quite as intimidated by the clutch kit I have to buy in the near future...I'm still not sure I want to do it myself...it was neat to see how it works, someone can explain it until they are blue in the face but until you see it it doesn't click....
It's also a good way to check those places that you don't normally see for any wear and tear or loose nuts and bolts. And to get those places cleaned up!
The one thing I'm not comfortable with is the carb....it's a pain to get to on a Scrammy and that's one place that I could screw things up royally!!

I have to agree and even if you have it serviced at a shop it will at least make you aware of what they are talking about. But, if you are going to go much deeper than skin I suggest picking up a manual or a friend that knows what he/she is doing. Have fun!!!

That is one thing that I really like. All I need is a ratchet with a 7/16" and 1/2" socket as well as a screwdriver with a torx bit and a phillips bit. With those you can pratically take most of the thing apart
And Rook, dont worry about the clutch kit. It is actually really simple and straight forward. If you run into problems, then thats what we are here for. Just make sire you have a good pair of snap-ring pliers. And the carb is a lot easier than it looks, as long as you follow the directions. The hardest part is kepping to the dang thing
