Default Help!!! my scrambler sucks

My 95 polaris 400 is locked up. The bike had a water leak somewhere, that was letting water down in the crank. It wasn't in the head, cylinder or the gaskets. Is there anywhere internally that water could be leaking inside the crank (like the water pump or something internally that water can get in to the crank)? How many parts are there to rebuild on that engine? Are the engines worth rebuilding? How much does it cost to rebuild? How difficult is it to rebuild.

I can pretty much bet that you got water in your counterbalancer. There not that hard to rebuild, get yourself a manual.Just the counterbalancer itself is $300.Good luck.

I guess that could be it. But I put a new cylinder on my scrambler, replaced the gaskets, and the head. When I started it after the top end rebuild, It sucked the water like it had a blown head gasket, it was steaming out of the exhaust real bad. Could the counterbalancer get water in it straight from the radiator, and make it continually leak into the crankcase.

Yes the water can go straight into the counterbalancer,There are 2 seals which are back to back and the water can get thru .Check your counterbalancer dipstick and see if you have water in it.The counterbalancer area is actually a different area than the crankcase. It is separated with a seal.I guess if that seal is bad it could let water into the crankcase. You have a drain plug for the crankcase remove it and see if you have any water in there.Sounds like a blown gasket.

You think it sounds like a blown gasket?? Are you talking about a head gasket, or the seal around the counter balancer

Well if you have water in the counterbalacer area you definitely have a bad seal. From what you explained sounds like you may have a bad head gasket. The chances of it being both are very slim but not impossible.
