My dealer installed the High altitude kit on mine when I bought it. It included lighter weights in the clutch and rejetting the carb. There are a lot of mods that can be done to the clutch/trans. It is just like a snowmobile clutch/trans. ( ramps, weights, springs). A good shop should be able to tune it to your wants or needs.

I grew up in bountiful, How much of the trails are left up by the temple? When I left 20 yrs ago it was all the rage to ride/drive/camp/hike up there. Never thought that the houses would ever get that high on the hill. Oh well that is sometimes the cost of progress. I moved far enough west that it will take a while for progress to find my trails.

After taking my 700 to the dealer 5 times in 10 months with only 140 miles on it, I have come to the conclusion that the main problem with continued leaks is the so called tech thats working on your machine. Mine turned out to be such a mess that the last time they attemted the repair it leaked oil out of the weephole. After going round and round with the dealer and the customer service supervisor for Polaris, I got a brand new engine for my machine which I'm happy to report that after 50 hard miles up in Colorado on vacation I have no leaks. I had been dealing with Polaris CSS directly after a nasty conversation with the CS line, I called her and a few other offices including Tiller's. I explained that I didn't want my money back just my machine fixed. Now I'm HAPPY.

No. The only thing that I did was install a K&N filter. I was up at 13k feet, and didn't experience any problems except loss of nerve to summit Misquito Pass. Here in Texas altitude isn't an issue. One thing that I did do was get rid of the crappy Champion plugs and install a pair of AC Delco Rapidfire plugs. Now I never have to use my choke when starting even on my trip when the temps were in the 40's. I was worried that the engine would run too rich, the idle was alittle low so I just adjusted the idle screw and off I went. I did have alittle decrease in power but I still was able to climb the trails mostly in high. Getting back to your previous post, I had the leak problem 15 minutes after buying it. The dealer replaced the cover with the updates a couple of times, the seals a number of times, the shaft, the mounting plate between the pump housing and the block. Finally they were ready to give me a new machine, which I was entitled to, however, Polaris wanted to try and fix mine somemore. I told them to replace mine or install a brand new engine and give me another 6 month warranty. So now with a new engine( I was there to open the box ) things are great. I hope this other dealer does you good.

markie, I bought one of my machines at the dealer you metioned it had many problems with it. I got them worked out with the service manager. Yea I ride the B hill a few times a month. Thats about the only place I know around here. I wish I knew more places to ride. I used to live in St. George, I just moved up here about a year ago. If you want to go riding on the B I could show you some trails. I am glad you got your machine fixed.

Riderbob, I have only been riding up here less than a year so I am not familiar with the trails by the Temple. I didn’t know there was any by the Temple unless you mean the B hill. I ride on the B hill trails. You are supposed to stay on the designated trails. There are sometimes a lot of people that go up to the B hill because of the road is so accessible. The back yards to a lot of houses up there is the main trailhead. They don’t seem to mind the OHV and vehicles that go up there. What trails do you ride on? I would like to ride more than one trail in the area.
