Default Sportsman 500ho belt

Does anyone know what a new belt cost for an 02 sportsman 500ho? My wife shreded hers to a bunch of strings(Of course I had to push it back home)! Also should I get one from the dealer or some other place?

My wife and I were coming back from riding and to get home we have to race across an overpass to get back to the trail home
on the way down the overpass it just stopped moving but was still running. I of course was way ahead of her waiting at the trail head when she gave me a ring on the cell with the good news. Funny thing is she said she heard or smelled nothing. it was too dark to check it out last night. man was that belt shreded to pieces there were pieces tangled around the driven clutch up in the top vent.

yeah the belts are about 30 bucks and you should be able to replace it yourself without to much trouble at all

Check with Ron or Bruce at Atlantic Polaris you should have a limited lifetime guarantee if the belt just shreaded. Just replaced mine on my 01 500 HO. Free ! Polaris has changed there guarantee so now they have to inspect the old belt or whats left of it to decide if it was driver era or defective. good luck

I was going to suggest that too, just bring what's left of the belt. Polaris has been pretty good about it, depending on the dealer of course.

So if you shread a belt will the front tires still turn. Or is the front drive connected to the secondary clutch?

I have always been curious.
