What would that prove? It would just start a pointless flame war. No need for that. The people here are just making personal observations that may be based on personal opinion, then again it is in a Polaris section. WHat else would you expect? Just my $.02

Ok guys here it is a part of the review of the 2001 spotsman 700cc twin in atv action.

"The ground clearance was adequate it had adequate power. The features were just average, and the ride was not as good as the rubicon. it also did not have the refinement of handeling of the rubicon."

Face it it the Sp500 had a honda decal on the side it would get a much better score.
also is'n atv action published in timmonsville SC. where hondas at?? lol

im in know way bashing the rubicon, its a good machine, but it doesent just the features or ground clearance of the sp500

I love my 500SP is very capabile machine, the RUBY maybe able to run with me,I'm sure it'll not go anyway I can't.I don't want one as I like the IRS and ride, true 4x4 and handling. But would welcome anyone that had one to ride with me,I could care less what the magazines have to say. It's what happens in the field that counts, talk is cheap action counts.I'm sure any new machince of this magnatude is going to get the blood flowing,I like to see some magazine articles from when the 500SP came out. There has been alot of hype about the RUBY as someone pointed out it has been a year and still not in anyones hands.Get it in the everyday guy's hands then we'll know what kind of machine it is.In my mind would take one hell of a machine with more going for it than the the RUBY to replace the 500SP.I would only hope the tranny and engine design would prove better so we would have an improved 500.I for one am not worried about the RUBY taking away from my 500 only happy for the HONDU guy's that will have a fine machine of this size to ride.CM

I read everything that has come out on the Rubicon and never have seen the observation of it being a "Foreman with an automatic transmission", at least not by anyone who has seen the machine or the press materials released. You might want to re-read the articles. I don't think there was an adequate level of comprehension of what was printed. The engine is a totally new design, never seen before on any quad, much less a Honda. If you are not interested in it, then obviation of any printed material regarding it may be best. I don't understand the highly emotional reaction to the ATV. If you disagree with a magazine's opinion of what is stated within, you would be better off expessing it to that particular publication and, if possible, to the author of the article in question. They are the only ones who can say as to why they formed the opinion expressed. No one on this forum can answer as well as the aforementioned. This is just like the movie reviewers. I don't go by what they say. I go by what interests me. They don't tell me what to like or dislike, and the magazines don't tell me what ATV to like or dislike. Don't let it upset you so much. It is just not worth it. Buy and ride what you like.
Hope that helps clear up the disinformation.

Is it just more or do the honda owners really act childish when someone bashes their quad?

I haven't read the article, but my overall opinion is that almost all magazines are bais to honda.

There was a shootout with the Mojave, Warrior Blaster, and 300EX. Even though the 300ex was the slowest, has the least opition on its motor(no water cooling ect) it still won the shootout. 300EXs aren't that great!

I agree with Paul. What's the advantage of starting an useless "fight" ? The issue doesn't need to be on the Honda Forum to be true. It's a fact.
About an year ago, when I was trying to decide what was quad for me, I bought a few magazines including Dirt Wheels and the other one from Hi-torque, what's its name. The point is that when a new rider reads these magazines gets the feeling that only Honda counts and the rest is junk. "Honda is always the best choice" they say, no matter if you choose a sport or other kind of quad. I found that very hard to believe at the time and today I know that's not true. Of course Honda it's great, but it's NOT divine. I mean it all depends how you use it, which must be very, very hard to understand because those "journalists" just don't get it - or don't want to. I was a reporter myself for 8 years and I know the business. In this kind of magazines these things happen a lot. It's funny though, coming from America, the land of democracy and equality of opportunities, specially including an American brand, which is one of the atv market leaders.

PS - I don't read those magazines anymore - it took me 2 issues to understand their "quality".

Who's acting childish? Why don't you read all the replys under this thread, there mostly Polaris drivers. Can you say "intimidated", cause that's all I see here. I say who cares, I don't know how good this quad is going to be, and guess what, neither dos any one of you. So relax and wait till you get to hang your leg over one yourself and then state your opinion.

Why don't YOU go posting in the Honda forum? We
like our ATV's, if you don't go somewhere else.

Who's intimidated? Let me say something... Honda has built the same quad since the business started, the Fourtrax, only now it is called Rancher.Honda started producing ATVs 'a way back, and it took them for ever to just create a 450. It took even longer for Honda to come up with the automatic. But it is just a Foreman with a different tranny! Just look at it. Compare the first Polaris ATV style to the other Polaris ATVs from the past 15 years. Holy cow! They actually changed styles a few times!!! Honda can't even change the looks of their quads. The suspension has always been the same,4wd the same, you name it,if it shows up on an '87 it will be on a '97.The Rubicon is way past its time. Auto's have been introduced for a while. Here are some "R.P.M.'s" Revolutionary Polaris Milestones:
1st-
Atv made in U.S.
Automatic transmission
Long travel suspensions
MacPherson strut front suspension
Full floor boards
Demand 4-drive (true AWD)
All-wheel disc brakes
Single lever disc brakes
6 wheel drive
Composite racks,bumpers,floorboards
Integrated footpegs in floor boards
Quartz-halogen headlights
Independent shaft drive,long travel rear
suspension
ETC
E-coat paint
Sport 4x4
Dual-sensing EBS
Concentric Drive system
Diesel
Polaris- the most models to choose from, true AWD,best suspension, most innovative, etc.;yet, Honda is better. Go Figure.
