First make sure you're up to operating temp. Then run it hard- wide open full throttle sprints. Then
stop quick, with spark plug wrench waiting, pull plug. If it is black and sooty, and was running doggy, you are too rich and need a smaller main jet. If it is chocolate to tan you are right on.
If it is white, or there are little tiny beads, that is your piston melting, you are too lean, and it will have been running real good, but might have been running on, like not throttling down, like it was possessed, and Scotty, shes gonna blow sky High!!

This is correct but there are a few more tips. First when you do the "jetting run" you must keep the throttle open when you kill the motor otherwise you will get a incorrect reading. Secondly you can do this in 4 part of the throttle because you have 4 speed circuts in the carb (0-1/4 1/4-1/2 1/2-3/4 3/4-full)
