Default Carlisle Badlands XTR Radial - How is it?

Noticed that Polaris decided to mount Carlisle Badlands XTR Radials on the S700 this year instead of the Goodyear's.

I realize that the new radial tire will not grip as good for serious mud/snow, but the radial tire is much lighter, should ride much smoother, and be very suitable for rocky trails & hardpack.

Can any of you 04' S700 owners comment? I'm looking at mounting a set on my Prairie 700.

Thanks

How about it? My local Polaris dealer has a good buy on these tires, they're takeoffs from new machines. I want good high speed handling and puncture resistance w/o spending the money for ITP ATR's. Will these tires give me that?

I just put a set of these on a Kodiak 450 and am very pleased with them. They track and steer very well. I originally started with 6 psi in the tires and thought they were very precise but a little stiff over rough terrain. I dropped a pound of air out of the tires and was surprised by the difference that 1 pound made. They still felt precise without the harshness I felt earlier. I would definately reccomend them. $230 from tiresunlimited.com delivered.

I was just down at Walmart today, and saw Carlisle ATV tires for sale there. Since Walmart is often pretty cheap, it might be worth checking out their prices.

do they come in 12-10-25 sizes? Does polaris use this size. I'd like radials on my Eiger.

WallyWorld doesn't sell the Carlisle Badlands XTR Radials.. I wish...

dbare, thanks for the feedback. They look pretty good for my type of riding.

The Carlisle Badlands XTR's are an awesome tire. I know because I have been using them on my 2004.5 Sportsman. I ride in the western US. I used Rawhides before that, but I will never go back to them now. The difference in ride, control and traction over the Rawhides is quite significant.

Thank goodness I didn't do something stupid like have the dealer put on Rawhides before I took the machine home. I almost DID do exactly that, because of my reading all the negative posts (that were posted before anyone even had one of these tires btw) in the various forums on these tires. Yeah, their derision for the Carlisles was howled and squawked all over the internet... I have closeup pictures of the tires in a thread here: http://www.atvexplorers.com/

Any more opinions, particularly on the XTR's ability to handle high speed trail riding?
