Default Time to grease

Had my sp 500 h.o. in about 2 foot of water (over the floor boards) for the first time so now I hear that I should grease it. What kind of grease do I use and where do i all grease. Thanks for any help.

its good to grease up when you go into water... any kind of grease will do it... you can buy the expensive polaris stuff.. but i just use some stuff from my hardware store...
i aint sure where all your fittings are.. your manual will tell you exactly where they are tho.

A good synthetic grease is a good idea.

If memory serves me right, any grease rated NLGI grade 2, will do. This website used to have an excellent page in their archives where they listed the location of all the zerks. I have a printout of it and reference it every time I grease. A few are difficult to locate until you've done it a time or two. Let me know if you need the exact locations.

it's a good idear to regrease every time you go in water. the water stays in your joints and will rust or will where them out quicker. a good marine grease will work

Front A-arms: 2 zerks on each side (4)
Rear A-arms: 6 zerks on each side (12)
Mid shaft U-joint: 1 zerk (1)
Front shaft U-joint: 1 zerk (1)
Front drive U-joints: 1 zerk on each side (2)
Steering stem: 2 zerks (2)
Rear stabilizer: 1 zerk on each side (2)

Not sure if this pertains to newer bikes, but is accurate for my years.
