Leave the snorkle off and then rejet just incase. HPS reccomends that you remove the snorkle anyways. If you dont ride in deep water then I would get a clamp on k&n filter and with the 160 main it should scream.

a k&n with a 160 main would be lean in cold weather....and smoke your piston...no matter how much high test you run you should always run a little rich when its cold.

a 160 should be perfect because thats what i was told to run wen i had the same mods. i got my snorkel off to wen i use to have the same mods and this was last winter and it ran fine and still runs fine. i run a 160 in anything warmer than 45 degrees with the mods i got now so it should be fine

would keeping my stock air filter on make it run richer? more on the safe side i would sacrafice a few ponies to keep the motor in good shape.

My guess is your too rich now. 2 strokes run real sluggish like they're boggin down when they're rich. You need to do a plug check. You might try a 155 main and see if it doesn't pep up.

if you have no power and then take off the snorkel, and stuff startes coming online, then i agree, your jetting is set too rich... taking off the snorkel increases the air charge, and in turn evens out the fuel to air mix. sounds like you need to get back to the basics, get yourself 3 new plugs and start chopping the plug starting with the main, working then to the pilot, then to the needle. i got a hotseat kit, and a ritterized head, and i run a 165 jet, i feel that it is a tad fat, but more to the safe side for winter. will go back to my 150 jet this summer.

just my thoughts
