case saver broke off pred engine... DAMMIT!!!!

only thing I can say is look what the chain was capable of at 2mph. JB weld? nuh uh. I would spend the $30 and know that it could save my case. My luck, it would come off in the air and be totally locked up when I landed. Is $30 really to much to spend? Think of the force with it pinned.

ya'll dont seem to understand... the case saver itself did its job.. its bent and i need a new one but that isnt what snapped off... it was the 2 tabs on the actual engine that snapped off. i talked to a welder up the road from me.. 60$ to have those 2 little peices put back on... sucks.. but he told me i could pay him when ever.. although money isnt the issue.. its just breaking down and spending 60$ on something that might be able to be fixed cheaper.. there is no saying that the weld will hold if the cast case didnt. i guess what i am sayin is.. JB weld my hold the same as a regular weld until the chain happens to break again...
JB weld - I already have some no money spent there..
having it welded.. 60$

Although it might hold, a JB Weld repair won't be as strong as the original mount. If you can have it welded for $60, I'd go that route. While the welder is in there, ask him to run some extra beads for reinforcement.

as for the extra beads... i had thought of it... its in a really tight area and he almost cant even weld on the back side of it.. i aint sure though, i will ask about it tho.. thanks.

My friend, his uncle, and I buy and sell used 3 wheelers fixxing them up as we go. After trying JB weld, (blew right out after a few hours), we tried welding. Although welding seemed to to work fairly well, it didn't. The welding actually made the metal weaker. If you want to do it cheep weld it, if you want it done fast, JB weld it, but if you want it to last spend a few bucks and get a new case with a brand new chain. Hope this helps.
